Wilson Irons
Range Overview
Start with the Staff Model line if you're a decent ball striker. The blade is proper old-school – muscle-back, forged, no hiding place. You get incredible feedback but you need to find the middle consistently. The CB gives you a cavity back so there's a bit more help on thinner strikes, though it still looks compact and feels soft. Then the XB goes further again with hollow-body construction. It launches higher and carries further, but doesn't look chunky behind the ball like some distance irons do.
For golfers who need more assistance getting the ball up and away, the DYNAPWR range is where to look. The standard version suits mid-handicappers nicely. The DYNAPWR Forged adds that softer, more responsive sensation if you've come from forged irons before and miss that feel. And the DYNAPWR Max is the most forgiving of the bunch – wider sole, deeper cavity, lower centre of gravity. Basically built to help if your contact pattern isn't consistent yet.
We also keep the Staff Model RB utility iron in stock. Fills that awkward gap between your longest iron and shortest fairway wood really well.
Everything comes in steel or graphite across various shaft flexes, and we carry left-handed options throughout. Not just selected models – the whole range.
Why Evolution Golf
We're authorised Wilson dealers, which means you're getting genuine Wilson golf clubs with the full manufacturer warranty, not grey imports or dodgy stock. We keep current models and some previous-generation stuff too, which can save you money if the latest version doesn't actually suit your swing any better.
Custom fitting happens at our Ringwood store. We'll test different shaft weights, flexes and lengths against your swing to see what produces the best numbers. If you're torn between models, bring your current irons along and we'll compare ball flight data side by side. Takes the guesswork out of it.
Standard delivery covers mainland UK. And our returns policy means you're not stuck with something if it genuinely doesn't work for you.
Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between the Staff Model irons?
The blade is traditional muscle-back construction. Maximum workability and feedback, but you need to be a low handicapper who strikes it pure most of the time. The CB adds perimeter weighting so off-centre hits don't punish you quite as much, while keeping that compact look and forged feel. The XB uses hollow-body construction to launch it higher and further. Most forgiving of the three, but still aimed at better players rather than complete beginners.
Are the DYNAPWR irons suitable for high handicappers?
The DYNAPWR Max definitely is. Wider sole, deeper cavity, all designed to help if you're not catching it clean every time. The standard DYNAPWR works well for mid-handicappers. And the DYNAPWR Forged gives you similar forgiveness but with that softer sensation at impact if you prefer how forged irons feel.
Should I choose steel or graphite shafts in my Wilson irons?
Steel generally gives you better feedback and tighter dispersion. Most single-figure golfers go steel for that reason. Graphite is lighter though, so if you've got slower swing speed it can help you generate a bit more clubhead speed. Also dampens vibration better, which matters if you've got dodgy elbows or wrists. We stock both across the range and can test each during a fitting session to see which actually performs better for your swing rather than just guessing.
